To tell the truth, last 18 years cooking was something strange and people who can cook were just like the magicians for me. All the things I was able to cook was some simple pourrages or fried potato. But then I went to university and left parent's house. First days of life in the HSE's hostel were very difficult - I had an extreme feeling of hunger. Of course, the fact that my classmate I lived with in the hostel was quite good cooker. However, still sometimes there was no food at all. As there were no another way, it was necessary to learn to cook. Well, firstly it was very difficult. Fire alarm in our flat sometimes worked four of even five times per day. One day I even almost burned our flat. Hostel's secuirity knows us very well :). After one week when the fire alarm was working, they just called and asked us if we'are cooking again.
But at last, I think, we can say that we learned to cook. Of course, its far from the professional cookers' level. But it's quite easy for us to cook some soup or friken chicken. However, very often there's no enough time to spend cooking something really difficult and deliciuos. Also there's one problem - we have just the microwave owen, and no simple owen. Therefore, there's no possibility to cook a lot of good food.
Yes, I agree that cooking is kind of a art. I was always wondering of people that were cooking good. And, I think, it's obvious, that becoming really good cooker is extremely difficult. I don't call the art just the deliciuos food. No, it isn't. For me artistic cooking is not only making it delicious but also beautiful. I saw many times the food that looked disgusting but was very deliciuos. However, I didn't want to eat such food. To tell the truth, in my life I have met not a lot people that had an artistic level in cooking.
Honestly to say, when I was young I didn't consider cookers as magician. I knew that it is rather easy to feed yourself with simple dishes, but I just didn'y need it. Living in dormitory I learnt how to cook simple food and, in my opinion, it is the best food. Firstly, it is economically effective. Secondly, a dish which consist from one or two ingridents is much better digestion than a big "collection" of different ingridients, even if it tastes fantastically. This is my justification for not developing my cooking skills:)
