Metallica is legendary rock band. For most people the name of this group is one
of the first things that they remember after mentioning the word “rock”. For me
Metallica has become something more than just a rock group.
In spite of this I didn’t like their song after
I firstly hear it. I clearly remember that moment. My friend gave me his
earphones and said that Metallica is beautiful. The song was called
Motorbreath. I hardly endured till the song’s end. After that I said that
Metallica was one of the most awful groups that I had ever heard. Well, today I
regret of that episode of my life.
I started listening Metallica about 3 months after
that accident. I was fan of pop music before rock music. (Today it’s very hard
for me to imagine myself hearing Justin Bieber or Lady Gaga.) At that time my
iPod was fully filled by pop singers’ songs, but then after advice of my friends I unwillingly downloaded a few albums of System Of A Down and Metallica. After
a couple of listening I understood that they are not so horrible as I had
thought and I completely deleted all the music in my iPod and downloaded all
the albums of these two rock bands.
A few words about Metallica. They formed in
1981 when James Hetfield responded to an advertisement that drummer Lars Ulrich
had posted in a local newspaper. In more than 30 years of their existence many
musicians have been replaced in their group but their songs almost did not change.
Metallica was ranked by MTV as the third
"Greatest Heavy Metal Band in History", was listed fifth on VH1's 100
Greatest Artists of Hard Rock, and was number one on VH1's 20 Greatest Metal
Bands list. Five of their albums became the most popular in Billboard 200
charts. The mayor of San Francisco, Willie Brown, proclaimed the March 7
"Official Metallica Day". James
Hetfield and Kirk Hammett got the 26 and 14 places in the 100 Greatest Guitarists
Of All Time.
Here are a few songs that I advise you to try
to listen:
1) Nothing Else Matters
2) The Unforgiven
3) The Unforgiven II
4) Tuesday’s gone
5) Memory Remains
6) Master Of Puppets
7) Some Kind Of Monster

I had absolutely similar situation in my life. First 15 years of my life I was comletely sure that I hated all rock music. But then I found one album of the best rock songs ever. But it was rather "light" rock in comparison with Metallica. One year later one girl sent me several songs of Metallica, and ... I really DISliked them ( but, of course,I answered her, "Oh, what a beautiful song!" But in October I started listening it again and I really loved it! I know only 3 songs ( the first 3 in your list), but they are really cool.
